Accepted! Welcome to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital! ~Admin
[Name:] Tyler Pennant
[Age:] 32
[Occupation:] Physical Therapist
[Special Talents/Extra Info:] The most important thing about Tyler is that he’s a complete flirt -- he’s gay, but he even flirts with girls. He’s very clean-cut, but despite this he’s mastered the hair twirl. Don’t ask how, but he does it and in doing so has seduced many unwilling, innocent bystanders. He has a good heart in doing this, though -- he likes to make people feel good about themselves, and he wants to make them feel wanted.
He’s gone on dates, but he cares more about his work, his family, and his friends than falling in love. Work takes up most of his time, and he takes it very seriously. He’s sweet to all of his patients, and many of them have fallen victim to the flirting bandit.
[Personality:]
Tyler has always cared greatly for people. He’s a big humanitarian, and he likes to keep things ethical. He does, however, realize that you can’t get everything the way that you want to. Sometimes, you just have to guess -- but he hates doing that, and avoids it the best that he can. He likes to bring out the best in people, and loves to make them laugh. Having someone thank him is the best possible gift -- nevertheless, Tyler is a bit of a clotheshorse. A material girl, if you will.
During his working hours, he can normally be found in the physical therapy room -- surrounded by odd objects that not many people know how to use. He doesn’t take any breaks, no matter how many times he’s been advised to. Work matters to him, and he loves it. He enjoys learning about his patients’ personal lives, and entertains himself with their gossip and their family lives. He doesn’t prod, but people find him easy to talk to. Obviously, he doesn’t mind. He’s a great listener.
Outside of work, he’s normally sleeping -- he spends as much time as he can at the hospital, working with patients and speaking with the other doctors. He knows almost everybody in the hospital, and he socializes them more than any other person outside of the hospital. However, he does have a life outside of Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital. He plays the drums, and he often “jams” with his buddies -- Jason plays the guitar, John plays the piano, and all of them are accompanied by their singing friend Dan.
Dan has a great sense of humor, and likes to keep things light and easy. When things get too serious, he cares too much and gets himself involved too personally. His worst quality is that he comes off as a bit empty-headed, naïve, and flaky. These qualities only apply some of the time -- he is actually an extremely smart man. He was the valedictorian of his high school, after all.
[History:]
Born to Leslie and Mark Pennant on November 27th, Tyler was always a cheerful baby. He rarely cried, and he smiled within minutes of his birth. He remained a happy toddler and a gleeful child; he got along wonderfully with other kids, and he played the role of peace-maker for his arguing and competitive peers.
He never enjoyed sports; he did like calisthenics and aerobics quite a bit, but he didn’t like organized sports. There was no competition in exercising and stretching, unlike games like baseball and soccer. To this day, he avoids watching the sports on television. However, he does know basic facts about it.
In the eighth grade, Tyler started to realize that he had more feelings towards boys as apposed to girls like his hormone-crazed friends. He dated a few girls, but felt no connection. During his freshman year of high school, he came out to his friends as gay. He waited until his sophomore year before coming out to his family -- they were a bit surprised, but accepted him. Leslie and Mark had always been accepting people.
Without the stress of not knowing who he was, Tyler was able to focus more on his studies -- he already had great grades, but with the newfound free time and concentration, his grades sky-rocketed. He was the top of his class, and graduated the valedictorian of Westfield High School.
Tyler decided that he would move onto bigger and better things -- college. In his junior year, he had gotten accepted to Princeton, Yale, and NYU. This was actually no surprise to the Pennant family. They knew their boy was going to be a success, and he definitely was.
He ended up going to Yale, seeing as it was the bset college he'd been accepted to. Tyler had known for a long while that he wanted to go into the medical profession, but he didn’t know what he wanted to do specifically. He didn’t like blood that much -- he didn’t mind it, but he didn’t want to deal with blood constantly. Cancer depressed him, because he had cousins who had survived cancer and others who died from cancer. He had rekindled his love for calisthenics and aerobics -- so he decided that he’d go into physical therapy. It seemed like a worthy career to Tyler.
He studied constantly, and he soon became immersed completely in his studies. Thankfully, he passed his classes with flying colors. This was a particularly amazing feat since many of his professors weren’t fans of his -- they didn’t like homosexuals. Tyler never let this affect him, though; he figured that college professors would be fair. He was grateful that he was able to stick by his theory.
Tyler worked as an intern in a few hospitals, mostly having to observe patients and learn what physical therapy to give to them. He had to work with trauma and orthopedics for a little while, but Tyler wasn’t like the stereotypical gay man -- he wasn’t woozy or squeamish around gory things.
A year or two after graduating, Tyler applied for a job at Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital in New Jersey, and he was accepted and hired. He was one of the best physical therapists in the area -- he always was proud of this fact. Tyler was always happy with his decision to become a physical therapist, and going to work has always been a joy for him.

You’re going through the course of a regular day when a particularly difficult case comes to head. You have to handle it as lightly and carefully as possible because the patient is a very rich, influential person. What do you do? [At least two paragraphs required]
Tyler walked into the exam room, where a pale, young, brown-haired girls with glasses and a blue skirt paired with a green top, wearing a sling, was sitting with her dark-haired mother. Obviously, there was something wrong with her arm or her shoulder. Looking down at her chart, Tyler saw that she was correct. She had ten muscle spasms in her scapula -- causing a squeezed nerve. Ouch.
“Hello, Kirsten,” Tyler said, calling her by her first name. He sat down on a chair in front of her. “What seems to have happened?” Her mother sat up straighter and opened her mouth. Tyler groaned in his mind, keeping a smile on his face and looking straight at Kirsten. This was one of those mothers that wouldn’t let their child speak for themselves. According to Kirsten’s charts, she was fifteen years old. Perfectly capable of speech.
“Well, you see -- the other night, Kirsten came into my bedroom and she couldn’t move her arms. I thought she was kidding, just to get attention -- but then I took her to the doctor, and they sent us to the orthopedist, and she prescribed physical therapy.” The woman finished talking and put her hands back on her lap. Kirsten was looking at her fingernails that were covered with chipped red nail polish.
“Mrs. Mansell, I do appreciate your analysis -- however, we prefer to hear from the patient,” Tyler said with a smile. The mother looked a bit angry. “Please, do understand -- Kirsten will know what kind of pain she’s feeling, and maybe even what caused it.” Mrs. Mansell nodded, agreeing. “Now, Kirsten, were you carrying anything heavy…”
